Accessible Information Standard

The Accessible Information Standard means that by law NHS and Adult Social Care Services must make sure that if you have a communication need you can get information in a format that you can understand, any communication support you might need and these needs are clearly highlighted throughout your records.

This includes making sure that you get information in the formats you need such as:

  • Offering longer appointments
  • Information in Braille
  • Providing information in a larger print
  • Providing a British Sign Language Interpreter
  • Providing a Loop System
  • Producing information in an alternative format for example relating to correspondence, information about medication or treatment
  • Deafblind manual interpreter
  • Information translating into an alternative community language
  • Providing a Translator or Interpreter service for your appointments.
