We’re delighted to share that Lisa Natrass, Head of Data Security and Protection and Data Protection Officer at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), has been named the winner of the “Information Governance Human Encyclopaedia” Award at the National Strategic Information Governance Network (SIGN) Awards 2025.

The prestigious awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of Information Governance (IG) professionals across health and social care.

Lisa, who also serves as the SIGN Chair for the North East and North Cumbria (NENC) region, was nominated by fellow SIGN Chairs across the national network.

An extract from her nomination read:

"Lisa is an Information Governance Human Encyclopaedia. Her breadth of knowledge in information governance is always impressive — from records management to data protection, information risk, and service impact. She brings people together, backs her views with facts and evidence, and always considers the real-world impact on healthcare.""Lisa isn’t an island of knowledge; she knows when to include others to broaden understanding, and she genuinely listens, even when views differ from her own."

Speaking after receiving the award, Lisa said: "I am very humbled and honoured to have won this award. It’s a lonely role at times, as part of it is an independent statutory requirement, working not only for the Trust but also for patients. In my acceptance speech, I said I love sharing my knowledge and experience with everyone working in IG / Data Security and Protection. Discussion with peers helps us all move forward as an engaged collective — so this award also belongs to all the IG / DSP professionals I work alongside."

Please join us in congratulating Lisa on this well-deserved national recognition — and thank you, Lisa, for your continued dedication, expertise, and leadership in information governance.
