County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) is proud to mark National T-Level Celebration Week, running from 2–6 December 2024.
T-Levels are a pioneering qualification for students aged 16–19, offering a unique combination of classroom learning and practical industry experience through a 45-day placement.
The Trust has been collaborating with local colleges since April 2023, providing placements that help develop new healthcare talent.
From September 2024, CDDFT has supported 30 Health T-Level students, rotating through departments including Radiology, Surgical Wards, Specialist Nurses, Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), and more.
Recruitment is already underway for a new cohort starting in January 2025.
Expanding Opportunities in Science and Midwifery
CDDFT is also hosting three Science stream students across Pathology, Pharmacy, and Medical Physics.
Additionally, a new pilot programme, supported by the Trust’s Midwifery teams, has launched, providing placements for five T-Level Midwifery students working across community and acute care settings.
Celebrating success and sharing stories
As part of National T-Level Celebration Week, CDDFT’s T-Level Placement Coordinator, Kathy Wadge, will be visiting hospital restaurants to share insights into the programme and highlight the outstanding contributions of the students.
Kathy’s schedule is as follows:
- Monday 2 December: University Hospital of North Durham
- Tuesday 3 December: Bishop Auckland Hospital
- Friday 6 December: Darlington Memorial Hospital
Staff and visitors are encouraged to stop by between 11:30–13:30 to learn more.
T-Levels provide a valuable pathway for students exploring careers in healthcare, offering practical experience and insight into the NHS.
If you are a T-Level student please speak to your college tutor about placement opportunities.
