Last week, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) Chairman, Professor Richard Scothon, paid a visit to Ward 7 – the Complex Frailty Unit – to learn more about the exceptional work being delivered by its multidisciplinary team (MDT).
The visit showcased Ward 7’s collaborative approach to care, with a diverse team made up of Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, Podiatrists, Speech and Language Therapists, Pharmacists, and many others.
At the heart of Ward 7’s success is its commitment to multidisciplinary working, ensuring each patient benefits from thorough discussion, planning, and decision-making across specialties.
This approach ensures care is safe, compassionate, and tailored to individual needs – drawing on the strengths of every team member.
Professor Scothon was particularly impressed by the team’s unified working style and clear commitment to delivering outstanding patient care.
The ward’s consistently positive patient feedback and improved outcomes are a direct reflection of this dedication.
The visit offered a valuable opportunity to recognise and celebrate the efforts of this hardworking team, whose joined-up approach is making a real difference to patients and families.
