The County Durham and Darlington X-PERT diabetes education team has been recognised for their outstanding work at the 2024 X-PERT Diabetes Awards.

These awards celebrate excellence in diabetes education and highlight the impact of innovative, patient-focused initiatives.

X-PERT Health, a registered charity and leader in diabetes education, has empowered over half a million people to better manage their condition, transforming lives and improving health outcomes.

With type 2 diabetes affecting millions in the UK, the importance of structured education cannot be overstated.

The County Durham and Darlington team’s efforts were rewarded with multiple accolades at the X-PERT Awards:

  • Commended: Best Participant Engagement
  • 3rd Place: Greatest Improvement in Blood Glucose Management at 6 months
  • 2nd Place: Greatest Improvement in HbA1c at 6 months
  • WINNER: Greatest Reduction in Diabetes Medication Requirements at 6 months – an impressive 81.3% of participants were able to reduce or stop their medication.
  • WINNER: Greatest Reduction in Cardiovascular Disease Risk at 6 months, achieving significant improvements:
    • Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP): -4.6 mmHg
    • Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP): -3.3 mmHg
    • Total Cholesterol (TC) to HDL Ratio: -0.5
    • Triglyceride (TG) to HDL Ratio: -0.7
