On Thursday, 9 January 2025, we kicked off the New Year with a bespoke career event for over 200 Year 7 students at Carmel College in Darlington.
This marked our third consecutive year being invited back, following the success of previous events.
The event provided students with the unique opportunity to speak to staff, participate in activities, and learn about the diverse tasks and responsibilities involved in various NHS roles.
Representatives from multiple departments across the Trust shared their insights, including:
- HR
- Theatres
- Community Nursing
- Financial Services
- Dietetics
- Surgical Nursing
- Research & Innovation
- Midwifery
The students gained a greater understanding of the many career pathways available within the NHS, with 94% reporting they felt more informed.
Feedback from the school was overwhelmingly positive, with 73% rating the event as excellent and 27% rating it as good.
Even school staff praised the event for being engaging and informative for students and themselves.
We were also delighted to welcome Jacqui Dixon, NE&NC ICS Workforce Project Manager, who attended to see the fantastic work of #TeamCDDFT firsthand.
Jacqui commended the setup and thanked all staff for their dedication to inspiring the future NHS workforce.
A huge thank you goes to everyone involved in making this event a success and to Jacqui for taking the time to support and celebrate our efforts.
Together, we are inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
