At County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT), we are proud to support young adults in gaining valuable work experience through supported internships.
Philip’s experience with the Choices College Supported Internship programme is a testament to the impact of structured support and opportunity.
Starting as a Library Assistant at CDDFT, Philip quickly demonstrated his enthusiasm and customer service skills, making him a valued member of the Darlington Memorial Hospital Library team.
His dedication led him to participate in various hospital campaigns, training days, and recruitment events, further developing his professional experience.
Mike Dann, Library Services Manager, shared: "We are incredibly proud of our partnership with Choices College. Seeing individuals like Philip grow, gain essential skills, and prepare for their future is truly inspiring. It's heartening to see young individuals thrive, gaining practical experiences that set them on a path to success."
With the support of placement mentors, college staff, and hospital team members, Philip has now secured a Learning Support Assistant role in the NHS with Choices College.
His journey from intern to team member highlights the power of determination and the impact of a supportive environment.
At CDDFT, we remain committed to working with partners like Choices College to enhance accessibility in the healthcare workforce, ensuring that young people with learning difficulties and disabilities can pursue fulfilling careers.
