We are proud to announce that our pioneering virtual ward initiative at HMP Frankland has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Best Not-for-Profit Working in Partnership with the NHS’ category at the HSJ Partnership Awards 2025.

This innovative project, developed in collaboration with Spectrum Community Health CIC and HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), is transforming healthcare delivery within secure environments.

The initiative has achieved remarkable results, including a 63% reduction in emergency hospital transfers, enhanced patient-centred care, and a smaller carbon footprint.

Lisa Ward, Associate Director of Nursing for Patient Safety at CDDFT, highlighted the success of the collaboration, stating: “This partnership showcases the impact of integrating innovative healthcare solutions within secure environments."

"By working together collaboratively, we have enhanced patient safety, reduced hospital transfers, and improved overall healthcare outcomes at HMP Frankland. We are proud to contribute to this transformative initiative and look forward to continued advancements in partnership with Spectrum and HMPPS.”

The virtual ward initiative exemplifies the power of partnership in overcoming unique challenges and delivering high-quality healthcare solutions to vulnerable populations.

Winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards 2025 will be announced on March 20 2025 at a ceremony in London.

We are honoured to be recognised for our efforts and look forward to celebrating with other healthcare innovators across the country.
