We're pleased to announce the return of our Welcome Spaces.
Welcome Spaces provide comfort, warmth and relief to the local communities including patients, visitors and staff during the colder months.
Located in the restaurants at both hospitals, they offer a welcoming environment where individuals can relax and enjoy a free hot drink - soup is also available- as well access information and support from a range of organisations and community or voluntary groups.
The warm space initiative was created in response to the Trust’s commitment to being part of the communities it serves and supporting the wellbeing of communities across County Durham and Darlington recognising the added challenges winter can bring, the Trust aims to make the hospital experience as comfortable as possible for everyone.
Working alongside the Trust's Charity the initiative provides warmth and support to those who need it.
The welcome spaces are open every Thursday between 12 noon and 2pm, and visitors can choose from a selection of free hot drinks, including tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.
The space has been thoughtfully arranged to ensure a peaceful atmosphere with comfortable seating and is accessible to all.
More than 10 local organisations and voluntary groups are supporting the sessions with advice, guidance and information available for anyone who wishes to access it within the welcome spaces.
