Proactive about personal and professional development
In addition to the programme of learning opportunities available, annual performance and development appraisal is mandated for all of our staff.
We recognise that appraisal is a key part of both personal and organisational development.
Appraisal provides an opportunity to reflect back over a period of time, on all aspects of the job, to determine the areas in which you feel you have performed well, where you have encountered problems, why this may be the case and the measures you could take to improve your future performance and develop personally. The process benefits everyone in the Trust because:
- It allows staff to be clear about what is expected of them and why it is expected, with these expectations written in the form of objectives
- It gives staff a personal development plan, addressing their personal development needs linked to the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by your team or service
- It supports career and pay progression by confirming Knowledge and Skills Framework (KSF) achievement
- It allows the Trust to meet key objectives by ensuring these are aligned with appraisal
- It supports talent management and succession planning
