A fond farewell to Non-executive Director, Paul Forster-Jones

Last week we said a fond goodbye to Paul Forster-Jones who has served the Trust as a non-executive director for the past seven years.

Paul says, "I leave the Trust with only positive memories and feel very privileged to have been part of the NHS and, in particular, this Trust, over the last few years.

"The changes we have all seen have been immense but I do believe we are now in a much better position than many Trusts to deal with the ongoing health challenges our communities are facing and we're prioritising ensuring patients receive the treatments and procedures they are waiting for.

"Looking back on my time at CDDFT, I'm constantly reminded of the care and commitment shown by staff at all levels and whatever their role. You recognise that, ultimately, all we do, whether on the front line or behind the scenes, is for the benefit of our patients.

"As a result of my experience with the Trust, I have also reframed my definition of courage which our staff demonstrate without fuss, favour or any expectation of recognition.

"For myself I take great pride in being a small part of the best Board of Directors I've ever worked with (and I've been on a few). Our CEO, and both past and present Chairman, have been tremendous and very supportive to work for.

"My lasting legacy will be the Organ Donation memorials that I helped with at both Darlington and Durham and I hope in time we will be able to grow our donation numbers back to the pre-Covid levels.

"So as I sign off, I wish all of my colleagues all the best for the future, stay safe and look after each other as well."

Trust Chairman Professor Richard Scothon paid tribute to Paul's work: "Paul has been an inspirational Non-Executive Director at CDDFT.  His phenomenal leadership career coupled with tangible compassion, concern and care for staff and patients, will continue to influence us for many years to come.  Thank you, Paul, for all your fantastic work."

'Every aspect of my emergency care was dealt with quickly, efficiently and professionally with full explanations and compassion from all staff involved'.
