Another successful showcase event!

Showcase success

On Wednesday 6 December we hosted our second Trust Showcase at the Riverside Cricket Ground in Chester-Le-Street. The aim of these events is to inspire our future generations of workforce into careers within the NHS and health and social care.

We had 25 different areas/departments being represented from across our organisation and representatives from Durham County Council, North East Ambulance Service, Tees, Esk & Wear Valley, Sunderland and Teesside Universities and Newcastle Medical School. Teesside University also delivered workshops including hints and tips around university application and interview.

Eight schools and colleges from across the region were welcomed throughout the day with 126 students between the ages of 14 to 18 years old.

Student feedback has been very positive, one student from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form in Darlington said: "Thank you for the trip. I really enjoyed it and it has confirmed my choice of a career within the NHS. I was fascinated by the extensive roles within the organisation, and found the Teesside University presentation really helpful for future applications. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to go on such a great trip."

Thank you to everyone who supported the event and made it the success it was. If you would like more information on careers events, please contact Nikki Brodhurst, Widening Participation Ambassador at: n.brodhurst@nhs.net

'I have to compliment everyone on their pleasant persona and their expertise and knowledge. By the end of the 5 days, I did not feel as though I had been in a hospital ward and was very relaxed.'
