CDDFT Charity updates 20 November 2023

Our charity team were out and about last week, organising and attending events to raise awareness and vital funds to support you, our #TeamCDDFT colleagues, and our patients. We're very thankful to local businesses for supporting us by holding raffles or donating raffle prizes.

New car for Treetops

We had a new addition zoom into Treetops. Thanks to Mr and Mrs Carling pictured above, children can now be transported down to operations in a remote controlled car!

Their son, Jackson, needed an operation, he was obviously very nervous but he was taken down to the operating room in a control Lamborghini car!

Mr Carling said: "Seeing him enjoy this reassured me that all of his worries had gone away. Obviously as a parent you have your own worries about these sorts of things and when I saw Jackson enjoying his trip to the operating theatre, I felt a weight had been lifted off my shoulders."

So, they wanted to donate a car to the children's ward at University Hospital of North Durham so others can have this same experience!

Treetops and Paediatric Assessment area fundraising

Craig Thompson raised money for Treetops and the Paediatric Assessment area throughout October.

Craig said:  "First of all, myself and the staff on The Treetops Ward and Paediatric Assessment area would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated to my October fundraising. We have managed to raise nearly £6000.

"I'd also like to thank the CDDFT Charity for all your help and support throughout the last 6 weeks, it just shows what can be achieved when everyone comes together."

Well done Craig for such an amazing achievement.

3 peaks challenge for local women's refuge

A group of Clinical Research Nurses recently took on the 3 peaks challenge and raised funds for a local women's refuge centre, which provides support to women and children fleeing domestic abuse. If you would like to donate to this cause, please see the Justgiving page HERE.
