Celebrating International Women's Day with Lucy's inspiring story

Lucy Taylor

Meet Lucy Taylor, our lead midwife for recruitment and retention and practice placement facilitator for midwifery.

Lucy has dedicated more than 20 years to her passion for providing safe, compassionate and joined-up care.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lucy completely lost her hearing and feared she would lose the job she loves too.

With determination and support, Lucy has adapted her practice with specialist equipment like her Roger pen and digital stethoscope, thanks to support from Access to Health.

Lucy seamlessly navigates her duties, using technology to connect her cochlear implants to laptops, phones and microphones.

Embracing diversity, fostering inclusion and supporting our colleagues to thrive is at the heart of everything we do at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

We think Lucy's resilience and dedication is inspirational.

Happy International Women's Day - let's continue to uplift and empower one another and inspire inclusion.

'I have to compliment everyone on their pleasant persona and their expertise and knowledge. By the end of the 5 days, I did not feel as though I had been in a hospital ward and was very relaxed.'
