Celebrating staff achievements - congratulations Sharon!

Congratulations to Sharon Newton, who is our first Assistant Practitioner (AP) from #TeamCDDFT to access and complete a 1 year apprenticeship to convert to a Nursing Associate (NA) with Teesside University.

Sharon said: "The opportunity to convert from Assistant Practitioner to Nursing Associate was provided through the Trust on a 1 year conversion.

"With the support of my manager, Alison Brown, and my colleagues, I successfully applied. Academic work is not my strongest point but, with the support of a great university team and work colleagues, I successfully passed my course in March 2023.

"I am now able to support my colleagues in a job I love. I would advise any AP wanting to further their role to apply for the conversion if the opportunity arises.

"I would like to thank the A&E UHND team, ward 31 at DMH and TAPS 3B community for my placements and mentors, especially Rachel Prest, Helen Archbould and Beth Atkinson."

For further information about the conversion apprenticeship, please contact Talent for Care Coordinator, Tracy Bruce:

'As I was very, very nervous, I must have been the worst patient ever and they were brilliant with me and I can't thank them enough - could you please pass on my sincere thanks.'
