Chief Executive of NHS England visit

Amnda visit.jpg
Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of NHS England, to University Hospital of North Durham (UHND).

Amanda is a former pupil of Durham Johnston Comprehensive School and was returning to visit the current students and teachers - we were delighted to take the opportunity to organise a visit to UHND while she was in the local area.

These visits take a lot of time to plan behind the scenes and we are very grateful to those teams and colleagues who helped support the visit and make it a success.

As always time was limited but we managed to squeeze in showcasing as much as possible including some of our innovative work taking place in our local communities with the first contact physio initiative - supporting safe and compassionate care for patients and reducing the need to come into hospital by receiving physio treatment in GP practices.

We talked about the fantastic work going on in dermatology and plastics in relation to the teleskin project.

We were privileged to meet with a patient who discussed how we are supporting them on the end of life pathway and heard from some of our brilliant and enthusiastic apprentices who made a real impression.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping to make sure we were able to demonstrate the quality of patient care and experience we are providing across County Durham and Darlington.

'I am writing to congratulate you on your wonderful staff you have working for you at DMH.'
