A healthy resource centre in Easington is responding to
local feedback by launching a new diabetes support
Healthworks is launching a new diabetes support group
which will start this month and will continue to meet monthly.
Healthworks is providing the opportunity for people with
diabetes to join a free support service where members of the
community can meet others with this condition.
The diabetes support group will be held at Healthworks,
with the first session taking place on Thursday June 7 from 1.30pm
to 3.00pm. During this session there will be a nurse present
to give advice on taking medications as well as diet and

help to provide information, encouragement and support to others in

own experiences. Participating in support groups can
help people to deal with their problems more effectively, and
overall be provided with the feeling that they are not
"We are launching the group in response to feedback from
the local community after we asked them what other services and
activities they would like us to provide."
Healthworks, the healthy living centre, works in
partnership with NHS County Durham and Darlington, County Durham
and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbrian Water and Durham
Healthworks is located in Easington, County Durham and
provides a wide range of health information, activities and support
to those living in Easington, and the surrounding area.
