Elizabeth Peyton and her family were delighted at the care and treatment she received from the consultants and nursing staff of the Head and Neck Department at Darlington Memorial Hospital. Granddaughter Abigail Peyton decided that a practical way of thanking the department was to raise funds through sponsorship and entered the 2012 Great North Swim at Windermere. This 3 day event was badly hit by the weather and the first 2 days were cancelled but fortunately on the 3rd day the main event took place and Abigial completed the course. Her efforts raised over £400 which she and her grandmother presented to Jennifer Korsen Associate Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
