Employee leads fundraising event for MacMillan

Macmillian would like to say a very big thank you to Dave Allen, who raised just over a £1000 with the help of friends and work colleagues.   Dave who is a Health Improvement Specialist working as a health network coordinator for the Trust decided to organise a small golfing event in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support as they were a huge support to a friend who lost his life to a rare form of child cancer at the age of 26 and subsequently left a young family behind.

Dave said he has always liked golf but  has never been very good at it and always wanted to participate in an event and this sad story spurred him on to organise a small golfing event.

The golfing event took place on 7th October 2011 at Crook Golf Club and 50 people attended and was a great success.   Also there have been party games with staff and raffles at various locations held to help boost the charity fund.   Dave would like to carry on fundraising to support this charity so would appreciate any donations or raffle prizes.

A cheque for £1024 was handed to Michelle Muir, Macmillan Fundraising Manager on 15th Feb 2012 at Dr Piper House, Darlington.

'I have to compliment everyone on their pleasant persona and their expertise and knowledge. By the end of the 5 days, I did not feel as though I had been in a hospital ward and was very relaxed.'
