Get out and about this summer

The 'Out & About' Walks aim to provide opportunities for local people to take part in physical activity whilst exploring their local area. The walks are accessible to all ages and abilities and led by qualified walk leaders.

The third of this year's 'Out & About' walks, arranged by County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust will take place on Friday 19th August. The meeting point is outside the main reception building inside Crimdon Caravan Park, followed by a scenic walk along the coastal footpath.   The walk will start at 10am, lasting approximately one hour, starting and finishing at the same point.

Health Improvement Practitioner Lauren Lang said: "Walking is a great way to keep fit and healthy and does not have to be too strenuous to produce results.

"It is associated with a number of benefits and reduces the risk of many chronic conditions such as; coronary heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. So why not come along and keep fit whilst having fun on our walks!"

'In recent times, I have utilised admissions to Richardson for respite direct from my fracture clinic, even at weekends. I have never worked anywhere with this efficiency before - it is reassuring and invaluable for the patient.'
