Marybeth Collins has worked in healthcare all her working life and has worked at #TeamCDDFT for 17 years.
Now that her children are older she's pursuing her ambition to become a trained nurse through the CDDFT apprenticeship pathway into nursing.
As a student nurse Marybeth worked in the district nursing team as a health care assistant for 15 hours a week and did 15 student hours a week in various placements including: the intensive care unit at Darlington Memorial Hospital, the district nursing team in Darlington, the orthopaedic unit at University Hospital of North Durham, and the gastroenterology ward at Darlington Memorial Hospital.
Marybeth said: "I have a massive sense of pride just being able to wear this uniform and being able to make a positive impact on patient's lives. The first assignment I passed was a great boost as academic working isn't one of my strengths.
"I've really enjoyed each placement and learnt a great deal from each one and the staff I've worked alongside.
"As long as you are committed, focused and organised in your learning I would recommend this route for you. Believe in your ability, you've got this."
