Ensuring that our wards and departments are in the best condition and kept clean is extremely important to us in providing the best patient care and experience and is vital in preventing the spread of infections.
In addition to our routine cleaning programmes, we also carry out a regular 'deep cleaning' programme. This is a more concentrated programme of cleaning during which all beds, furniture and equipment are steam cleaned.
Between 26 August and November 2019, we are carrying out a deep cleaning programme and a number of improvement works on a number of wards at University Hospital of North Durham.
Therefore, this will involve some partial ward moves and may include patients being temporarily relocated to other areas within their existing ward, or onto different wards, at certain times during this period.
Any proposed changes or moves will be fully discussed with patients and loved ones to ensure minimal disruption to patient care and in ensuring our patients continue to receive the best experience.
We thank you for your understanding and support in helping this important improvement and cleaning programme to run smoothly.
If you have any queries or concerns please speak with one of our ward managers who will be happy to help you.
