Ramadan 2024

ramadan.jpg

The month of Ramadan is the holiest month of the Islamic year as it is when the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar where Muslims are expected to fast from dawn until sunset for one month if able to do so.

The annual observance of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.

This year Ramadan began on the evening of Sunday 10 March 2024 and ends at sundown on Tuesday 9 April 2024 (these dates depend on new moon sighting).

To support NHS Staff and Managers the NHS Muslim Network have created a guidance document for Ramadan and Eid which can be accessed HERE.

We wish all who celeberate Ramdan Mubarak.

'In recent times, I have utilised admissions to Richardson for respite direct from my fracture clinic, even at weekends. I have never worked anywhere with this efficiency before - it is reassuring and invaluable for the patient.'
