Take a leading role in shaping and driving the future of healthcare within your community.

£55,000 per annum, with a time commitment of at least 102 days per annum, commencing 1st March 2023

County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust serves a core population of around 600,000 people living in County Durham and the surrounding areas.  The Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute and community based services across two acute hospitals, community hospitals and numerous community bases.  Already a high performing Trust, we are investing in improvements in facilities and service developments, along integrated pathways focusing on patients' outcomes and experiences.

We are looking for someone who can: lead the Board in setting and directing the implementation of the Trust's strategy, in support of our local and regional healthcare systems; lead the Board's engagement with internal and external stakeholders, and forge highly effective relationships within the Board and between the Board and our Council of Governors.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strategic leadership qualities in addition to the temperament, ability and experience to work at board level and to understand and shape the direction of a large and complex undertaking. They will be skilled in developing highly effective, collaborative teams and strong relationships between those teams and the wider stakeholders they serve. In addition, they will have the credibility to lead a unitary Board and to work collaboratively both within and beyond the Trust.  A commitment to the community, wellbeing, sustainability and to the NHS is essential.

The Trust values diversity in backgrounds, experience and thought - at all levels - and fully supports equality of opportunity and inclusion for all those we serve and work with.  We are committed to maintaining a senior leadership that fully represents the communities we serve and therefore welcome applications from all backgrounds, particularly from those in under-represented groups or with protected characteristics.

You must live within the Trust's geographical area and meet the eligibility criteria for Board appointments, as detailed in the Supporting Documents accompanying the vacancy advert on NHS Jobs.

Sharing your talents and expertise, you can help shape the future of our acute and community health services, making a positive difference to the health of the people we serve. This is an exciting time to be part of our journey.

Closing date for applications: 20th December 2022, 23:00 hours.

Interviews: Week commencing 5th January 2023
