Waiting for an outpatient appointment or elective procedure? You may receive an email or text from us

Patients who have been waiting for an outpatient appointment or elective procedure are being offered the option to communicate with us digitally, so that we can ensure that patients who are waiting still require their appointment.

Patients for whom we have a mobile number or email address who are waiting for an appointment, will be contacted through text or email from our system 'Patient Hub'. Over time we will be looking to add further services for you.

The secure link in the message will take you to a website, where you will need to confirm your mobile number or email address, as well as your date of birth when prompted. This will then provide access to view the notification about your referral, which will give you a number of options:

  • to remain on the waiting list and proceed with an appointment / procedure,
  • to delay an appointment / procedure
  • to be discharged because you no longer need an appointment / procedure
  • to request a call back to discuss your appointment / procedure.

There is an option to opt out of the digital service in which case contact will be by post - as it will be for patients for whom we have no mobile number or email address.

We're very aware of the need to exercise caution when receiving messages from a new or unverified sources and that some patients may, understandably, delete our message assuming it to be spam.  We hope this will be less of a problem as people become familiar with the new system.

Our initial contact will happen automatically if you are on our waiting lists, you don't need to contact us. Once you have responded to our message, you don't need to do anything further, unless notified by ourselves.

Of course, you will need to let us know if you change your mobile number or email address.

The Patient Hub website can be logged in via the secure log in page.

'I have to compliment everyone on their pleasant persona and their expertise and knowledge. By the end of the 5 days, I did not feel as though I had been in a hospital ward and was very relaxed.'
