Welcome spaces

Last week we shared with you our new exciting development at Bishop Auckland Hospital which sees the restaurant transitioning into a 'welcome space' to embrace and connect with our local community. This is part of our ongoing commitment to provide safe and compassionate care as well as playing an active role within the communities we are serving.

We are proud to tell you our first welcome space took place last Thursday and it was a big success.

Our Wellbeing For Life team handed out 15 bowls of freshly made carrot and coriander soup along with a nice warm cuppa - which were very welcome on a freezing cold, snowy day. We even made the local and national news.

Patients and visitors enjoyed their afternoon and we are looking forward to this Thursday where we will be talking financial wellbeing and how to make your pound go further.

We are also facilitating a 'Pay with a post-it' board where people can pre-pay for a warm drink and leave a message for anyone using the welcome space. It means those using the space can take one of the post it notes and receive a warm drink during their visit.

'Care received was fantastic and I was very well looked after and very impressed.'
