Graduated from Cairo University in 1977 with honors obtained Master degree in internal medicine in 1982 from Cairo University then successfully completed my general medical training gaining my MRCP(UK) in 1987.
I then started my Haematology training at Cairo University hospital subsequently moved to UK where I completed my training in Haematology successfully gaining my MRCPath in 1992.
Left UK back to Cairo in 1994 where I was appointed to the post of a lecturer in haematology then a visiting Consultant Haematologist in Saudi Arabia.
Started my current post as consultant haematologist at CDDFT in September 2001 initially in a locum capacity pending obtaining my specialist registration which I did in April 2007. With the help of my medical and nursing colleagues in the haematology department BAGH and DMH I believe we have been providing an excellent relaible and safe service to our patients(Level 2a BCSH).
I have also established a clinical nurse specialist lead clinic for myeloprolifrative disorders at BAGH with a view to expand this type of nurse lead clinic to other indications.
We have improved the patient experience attending the Chemotherapy unit at BAGH by providing such services as acupuncture and aroma therapy at no extra-cost to the trustand significantly improving the "infrastructure" of the unit.
With the help of my colleagues in the trust thrombosis committee and VTE prophylaxis group we achieved compliance with DoH national guidance on DVT prophylaxis and the NPSA circular on safe anticoagulation.
'I am writing to congratulate you on your wonderful staff you have working for you at DMH.'
