Dr Namita Kumar

Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist

I completed my undergraduate studies at Liverpool Medical School and came to the North East after my house jobs.

In my time here I have completed my MRCP Masters of Medical Education and a two year period of full time research looking at coronary heart disease in patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

I was appointed as a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist in 2006 at CDDFT and have a number of educational roles within the trust.

I lead for Rheumatology research and we contribute to UKCLRN studies and hope to have some of our own projects soon.

In 2003 I was appointed to the Board of PMETB which was the regulator of Postgraduate Medical education in the UK until its merger with the GMC in April this year. I remain a GMC lead partner for their panel work.

I research in both the clinical and educational areas and will teach if able anyone who asks me!

In 2010 I was appointed as Head of Foundation School for Northern Deanery.
