Took up Short Service Sommission with RAMC 1971. Qualified 1975.
RMO duties in Germany and Northern Ireland.
Started surgical training 1977. FRCS 1979. Converted to Regular Commission 1980. Service Germany Belize England and Germany. Accredited consultant 1985.
Served as consultant in Belfast Nepal Germany Falklands Bosnia and finally in charge of Army's cancer unit at Queen Elizabeth Military Hospital Woolwich.
Premature volountary retirement from RAMC 1995 and took up post at Darlington Memorial Hospital to start a rapid access one stop breast clinic.
Gradual increasing specialisation in breast surgery has followed this appointment but still do some general surgery and remain on emergency on-call rota.
