Mr Haider took his degree in medicine from King Edward Medical College Lahore Pakistan.
He then came over to the UK to train in Ophthalmology and was awarded a Fellowship of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in 1988 and a Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists the following year.
He trained in Ophthalmology as specialist registrar in Norwich and Wales and then took up a specialist fellowship in medica retina and uveitis in Bristol Eye Hospital.
He was accredited as a Specialist in ophthalmology by the UK's General Medical Council in 2005. Mr Haider also took an MSc degree from Birmingham University in evidence based medicine.
He also holds membership with the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the United Kingdom Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
