I am a Consultant Neurogastroenterologist and Director of R&D for County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
I am Director of the Durham Constipation Service which acts as a tertiary referral centre for severe constipation in the North of England. As a neurogastroenterologist, I also see patients with chronic vomiting. The service is based on core values of patient centred-ness, innovation and multi-disciplinary care. Research interests include assessment methods in patients with severe constipation; understanding the patient perspective, and development of novel therapies.
I have been active in promoting regional research, and have been strongly involved with the Comprehensive Local Research Network in the region. I was member of the founding CLRN Executive and GI Specialty Group lead. I am a member of the BSG Neurogastroenterology section committee and research committee, and am affiliated with Durham University.
'As I was very, very nervous, I must have been the worst patient ever and they were brilliant with me and I can't thank them enough - could you please pass on my sincere thanks.'
