Services We Offer

Occupational Therapy Offered Services

School drop in sessions:

Drop in sessions are designed to offer teachers and teaching assistants the opportunity to speak to an Occupational Therapist on an informal basis and get practical, easy to use advice. Please note these sessions are specifically intended for children and young people who are not already known to the Occupational Therapy service.

Specialist Equipment Assessment:

Please refer to the Related Publication named "Equipment" for further details how Occupational Therapists assess for the equipment needed to fulfil your child's needs.

Sensory Smart Classroom:

Sensory Smart Classroom sessions are delivered within the school setting both main stream and those which provide special educational needs. They consist of one 90 minute session. They are suitable for Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. They provide information about:

  • What our senses are and how they work
  • What goes wrong when children struggle with the sensations around them
  • How sensory development needs can impact on learning
  • Practical ideas that can be implemented right away

Sensory Smart Awareness Session for Professionals:

These sessions are designed for professional colleagues who require an update of the sensory systems and strategies that can be used within nurseries/schools. There are different packages to suit the different teams and last approximately 3 hours.

Sensory Smart Parenting:

Due to the pandemic, changes have been made to some of the services offered. Currently the Sensory Smart Parenting training sessions for parents and carers have been moved to online training. The aim is for parents/carers to gain a better understanding of the sensory systems that may be causing your child's difficulties, and knowledge of what can be done to help them develop and improve their skills for life.
The web link to the online training course forms part of our intervention package and therefore is only available when recommended by an Occupational Therapist following their assessment.
