GP Advisor

GP Advisor Service

Our GP Advisors are experienced medical GPs who have a particular interest and training in Practitioner Health. 

Our aim is to provide a sensitive, easily accessible and confidential advice, help and support service for primary care doctors, dentists and their staff in the County Durham and Darlington area.

  Types of difficulties presenting so far:

  • Stress, anxiety, depression, other common mental health disorders.
  • Professional burn out.
  • Alcohol or other substance dependency issues.
  • Physical illness.
  • Work place disputes.
  • Concern about colleagues.
  • Personal, family, social difficulties.
  • Complaints. 

Services Offered:

  • Confidential telephone help-line access to GP Advisors.
  • 1:1 meetings with GP advisors.
  • Mentoring.
  • Access to professional counselling.
  • Signposting and support in treating drug and alcohol problems - treatment, rehab and longer term support.
  • Regular peer support meetings.
  • Advice and support with professional Regulatory body enquiries and investigations.
