Bowel Screening

Welcome to the Bowel Screening Service.  We have developed a survey which we would like to kindly ask everyone who has used the Bowel Scope Service ( patients aged 55 ) to complete.  This survey is designed to help us gather feedback to enchance our service further.   The survey can be found at the bottom of this page.

The Bowel Screening Service is provided by a team of accredied screening colonscopists.

The service was established to provide bowel screening for the local population aged between 60 and 74 years.

An additional service for people aged 55 has recently been introduced for flexible sigmoidoscopy.   

The service is provided from the Trust's Accredited Bowel Screening Centre at Bishop Auckland Hospital and received full JAG Accreditation for this service in 2012.

There are satellite nurse assessment clinics at Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge and Darlington.
