Helping you stay connected

To help you stay in touch with your friends and family, or catch-up on your favourite television or radio programmes whilst staying in hospital, you can access free wi-fi and bedside entertainment.

Wi-Fi

Patient Wi-Fi is available across most of our sites – simply search for and join NHS Wi-Fi on your smartphone or other device and follow the onscreen instructions to connect.

Bedside entertainment systems

Our bedside entertainment systems offer access to more than 20 television channels, games and radio stations. When access is purchased as part of a bundle you will also receive free outgoing calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers. Please note that charges do apply.

Radio channels are free

There is a selection of stations for you to listen to - local, national, commercial, and also our very own hospital radio. Simply call the SPARK TSL Customer Care Team (a free call) to get started. Services supplied by Hospedia Limited, recently acquired by SPARK TSL on the Bishop Auckland Hospital, Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham sites. Other Trust sites operate a free communal television service and payphone.

Hospital radio

Hospital radio, provided by either Durham Hospital Radio or Prince Bishop Hospital Radio is available across all our ward areas and can be accessed online or via the bedside entertainment systems.
