NatSSIPs is a national programme which aims to standardise process and documentation relating to Invasive Procedures.
LocSSIPs are locally derived safety standards which apply to Invasive Procedures conducted both in our acute (Darlington Memorial and University Hospital North Durham) and community settings. The goal is to improve patient safety and eliminate 'surgical never events' across the Trust.
As part of Country Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust's (CDDFT) Local Safety Standards for Invasive Procedures (LocSIPPs), we have developed checklists and other resources for specialties within our 5 Care Groups; accessible via the orange tabs above.
All checklists have been developed by specialists within the associated procedural areas with coordination and support provided by the LocSSIP Implementation and Governance Group. They are intended to be used by trained healthcare professionals undertaking the specific procedures and should not be used in the absence of the appropriate team training.
NHS England encourages sharing of locally developed Safety Standards and in order to engage fully with the 'spirit of LocSSIPs', CDDFT has constructed these publically accessible webpages to facilitate access and help support others in their endeavours to introduce similar standards. Please note that these pages will change regularly as amendments take place and additional resources are added.
