About our service

Our Macmillan skin cancer clinical nurse specialists provide specialist knowledge, care and support for patients and their families, from point of diagnosis, throughout treatment and during the management of follow up care, including skin cancer surveillance.

You will be introduced to our Skin Cancer Nurse Specialists at point of diagnosis and will receive a helpful information pack containing our contact details. Your nurse specialist is your first point of contact if you have any concerns and we’ll signpost you to other relevant health care professionals and departments involved, to help reduce hospital admissions and GP appointments throughout your pathway.

To make sure patients have a choice of location for follow up appointments, our nursing service covers clinics at University Hospital North Durham, Sunderland Royal Hospital and Sedgefield Community Hospital.
